ASX Stock Market Game2 - Update 1st Nov 2013

2 weeks to go in this competition and we have a congested Leaderboard so its set-up for an exciting finish. We have new leaders, Thanapontk from Victoria leads with a return of 28.5%. Second is Malbi from Victoria with a return of a 27.2%. This is against the Australian All Ordinaries Index return of 10.4%.

My prospects of winning are almost over. After breaking into the Top20 last week now I am down to 255th in the rankings with a 13.4% return.

In an act of desperation, to catch the leaders, last week I shifted to a day-trading strategy. And let's just say it hasn't been effective. And I will add that I have never had success day-trading nor do I know anyone who has. Except of-course for the commission collecting trading houses.
Having said all that I will persist day-trading for the next couple of weeks.

This morning I have 4 holdings; LNC RRL PDN & PRU

ASX Stockmarket Game2 - update

One month left in this year's ASX Investment competition.
Codex from Victoria holds a large lead over the rest of the competitors. He has returned 27.8%, second is thanapontk from Victoria with a return of 23.3%.

I have slipped off the leaderboard this week, from 30th to 225th now (10.6% return). I was in a cash position over the last two weeks fearing a strong negative market move over the US Debt limit stand-off. But Australia's market has been largely unaffected by this US circus and as a result my portfolio has stalled.

I am back fully invested now with half my positions in risky stocks. I have a big margin to make-up if I am to catch our leader.

Below are some strong momentum stocks for your consideration;
FLT REA TPM RMD AAD ALL CWN AZJ CSR BLD DOW DMP TGA ORG

These are more volatile stocks;
OKN LNC LYC SIR BRU

And these are the dogs that you could consider if you're too far off the leaders;

My best Marketocracy Fund Performance

Below are the latest holdings of my Fund.

Year to date I am up 94.83%.

I am almost fully invested just a little cash up my sleeve.
All eyes on the US political situation. I wouldn't think their politicians would allow a default, they and their families have too much personal wealth in the market to lose. But then again this political situation seems to be getting crazier every day so maybe they will cut their noses to spite their faces.
If all goes well and a late deal is struck again I will be looking to a add another position in the coming weeks otherwise I am preparing to lighten my positions significantly.

ASX Game2 stock Shortlist - Update

I think it's time to get out of Gold stocks if you have not done so already. The war drums around Damascus have died down.

Here's my Shortlist of stocks with solid momentum: ANN RMD SHL CRZ IRE ALL AAD OSH BRG CWN DMP FLT FOX NVT REA

Leading the competition is OS Raiders from QLD with a 28.8% return, Rob Dan is second with a 27% return.

I have been holding a cash position and have slipped in the rankings to 257th, my return is 11.2%. There are 2 months left in this comp so there is time to catch the leaders, will need a little luck though.

Below are the holdings of my best ranked Fund.

This Fund now ranks #1 and #2 for 3 and 2 year returns.

I am almost fully invested in Heathcare with a little cash up my sleeve.
Will be looking to a add another position in the next week or so. My short term strategy may change depending on how things pan out in Damascus.

ASX Game2 Update - 27th August

Damo continues to lead the comp with a 36.2% return. Not bad considering the comp is not even a month old.

I am ranked just outside the Leaderboard in 103rd position, returning just over 15%.

Gold and silver miners dominate the market this month.
If you want to join the party get into these stocks: mml, ncm, nst, pru, and slr. These stocks will likely continue to surge as the geopolitical situation worsens in the middle east.

ASX Competition Game 2 - update 16/08/2013

Two and half weeks into the comp sees Materials/Gold Sector investers leading the way. This sector has come to life after a miserable 8 months or so. It will be interesting to see whether this Gold's sharp positive move turns out to be a dead cat bounce.
I have 3 material positions which am planning to hold for the short term. May move into some cash positions next week if we see more market weekness.
The overall leader is Damo from Queensland with an 18% return. I am ranked 236th with a 6.4% return. The average investor is up a little over 1%.

ASX Competition - Stock Shortlist, August 2013

Below is my stock shortlist.
I ran my "Krstevski Screen" over the entire competition stock list (over 120). The list below is what popped out. I look for stocks with strong positive price movement.

If you want a chance at winning the comp I suggest you start with buying 4 or 5 equally weighted positions. Less diversification equals more risk but also higher return possibilities, the is no second prize in this comp.
Good luck, the comp starts this Wednesday.

My M10 & M100 Marketocracy Fund (791branko) - updated

Below are my current holdings.

Quarter2 has been terrific for my fund, returning over 19%. My YTD return is over 51%.

I am more optimistic about the state of our market. It's bubbling along resiliently and I do not see a major danger in the near term (apart from summer being traditionally a weak period for the market).
The general market has very quickly turned negative (stimulas easying announcement, options expiry), am I feeling a little embarrased! Absent of a significant market rally by mid next week I will be reducing my positions (updated 21st June).

I am fully invested in Heathcare stocks with a large position in ACAD.
As always, if the broad market shows signs of weakness I'll reshape my fund.

My Fund is now part of Marketocracy's elite M10 Index and it still features in their M100 Index.
Marketocracy is about to publish their end of 2013 Q1 rankings. My Fund will be shown as ranked #1 for 3 year returns and #5 for 2 year returns. The link below shows my 5 year return.

ASX Stock Market Game - update

I am now on the leaderboard ranked #51.

I think I can win so I won't disclose my positions and strategy on the longshot chance that the leaders may find out.

My ASX stock market game performance

I have entered a stock market competition, trading in Australian stocks.
https://myasx.asx.com.au/home/myasx.do

This game is run by the ASX (Australian Securities Exchange), it runs for 3 months so it's not really a serious demonstration of trading skills.
I entered the game late a couple of weeks and unfortunately it gave the leaders about a 10% advantage.

I have risen in the rankings to #104 and hope to be on their leader board soon. Not sure that I can win this comp given its short time frame but I will give it go.

My Marketocracy holdings

Below are my current holdings.
Quarter 1 was terrific for my fund up over 27%. And so far this quarter I'm up over 7%.

I am very concerned about the current short term market state. Terrorism strike, Peninsula tension, Iran hostility, euro debt all have me edge. I have already sold several positions and may increase my cash position. If the market deteriorates quickly I'll buy into short etfs.

My Fund continues to feature in Marketocracy's M100, and it is ranked #1 for 3 year returns.
The link below shows its 5 year return. I will shortly overtake Justin Uyehara for the #1 ranking in 5 year returns if my momentum continues for another month or two.
